These are the questions plumbing owners and managers ask us most often. The short answers are above; this page adds context on the topics that come up again and again: cost, commitment, ownership, timing and trust. If your question isn't here, call, text or email and you'll get a straight answer from a senior strategist.
Frequently asked questions
What does it cost?
Growth costs $1,999 monthly, or $1,499 monthly on an annual term. The Elite tier runs $3,999 ($2,999 on annual billing) and Enterprise $7,999 ($5,999 annually), all before GST/HST. Ad spend is separate and paid directly to the platforms.
Am I locked into a contract?
No. Plans are month-to-month with 30 days' notice to cancel. Annual billing is an option that lowers the monthly price, not a requirement.
How long before I see results?
Paid search can produce calls within weeks. Local search usually takes several months to build a solid position, and content longer still. We give you a realistic timeline for your market before you start.
We tried an agency before and it didn't work. Why would this be different?
We can't speak for another agency, but the usual problems are vague reporting, traffic counted instead of calls, and accounts held by the agency. We report booked calls and cost per job, and everything stays in your name. Bring your old reports and we'll tell you honestly what we see.
Who owns the website, Google Business Profile and ad accounts?
You do. The domain, website, content, Google Business Profile and ad accounts are in your name, and we work with access you control. If you leave, they stay with you.
Can you promise more calls or first-page rankings?
No. Nobody controls Google's results or your local market, and promises like that are a warning sign. We commit to the work, to clear measurement and to telling you when something isn't paying.
How do you report?
Monthly, in plain language: calls and texts by source, booked jobs where your software tracks them, cost per booked job, map visibility in your area and what we're changing next.
Are you a plumbing company?
No. Plumber.News is a marketing and business consulting service and a newsroom. We are not a contractor and never install, repair or service plumbing.
Do you work with plumbers outside British Columbia?
Yes, across all ten provinces and three territories. We are headquartered in Vancouver and work with plumbing companies everywhere in Canada, consulting by video call or in person as well as by phone, text and email.
Do you have plumbing case studies?
Our published case studies are from HVAC and heating companies, and we present them as results from our HVAC work. The methods are the ones we use for plumbing clients.
How do you verify news stories?
We load the primary source ourselves, link it, use its real date and never invent quotes or data. If a detail is only in trade press, we say so.
Can you write about code changes for my customers without giving compliance advice?
Yes. That is exactly how we write: what changed, in plain language, with a link to the authority and a reminder to confirm with them. Your lead plumber reviews each page.
Is the first consultation free?
Yes. The first 30-minute consultation is free for eligible trades businesses and is separate from paid plans.
Price and commitment
The lowest plan is $1,999 a month on a rolling basis, or $1,499 a month on an annual term, plus GST/HST. Leaving takes 30 days' notice and no contract stands in the way.
What changes the price is scope: the number of service areas, the channels you use, the state of your website and how much content you want. The pricing page has the full table and a worked example of how many extra jobs a plan needs to produce to pay for itself at different job values. Advertising budgets are always separate, paid by you to Google or other platforms, so you can see exactly what was spent.
Ownership and access
Everything is yours. This matters more than most owners realise until they try to leave an agency.
Before you sign with anyone, check who holds the domain registration, the website hosting login, the Google Business Profile ownership, the Google Ads account and the call tracking numbers. With us, each of these is in your name or transferable to you. We ask for manager or user access, which you can revoke.
Timelines and expectations
Different services move at different speeds:
- Ads: calls can start within the first few weeks, once tracking and campaigns are live.
- Local search: profile fixes show early effects; strong map positions usually take months.
- Website: a new site is typically four to eight weeks to launch; gains in search follow over the next months.
- Content: the slowest to pay back, and the longest-lasting.
We give you a timeline for your market in the first plan, and we tell you if it's slipping. The services overview explains each service in more detail.
The newsroom and the marketing
Plumber.News reports on the plumbing trade, and the same team plans marketing for plumbing companies. The reporting keeps us current on codes, programs and rules; the marketing uses that knowledge for clients.
We keep the two honest by applying the same rules: real sources, real dates, no invented numbers, and no promises. You can read every story in the newsroom and judge the standard for yourself.
When an agency didn't work before
Many plumbing owners come to us after a disappointing agency. The pattern is familiar: a monthly report full of impressions and clicks, no link to booked jobs, and an ad account or website that turns out to belong to the agency.
Our suggestion is practical. Before you judge any new agency, us included, gather three things: your call volume by month for the past year, your average job value and the logins for every account. With those, we can show where the old spend went and what changed. If the answer is that your marketing was fine and the problem was missed calls or a pricing issue, we'll say so, even if that means a smaller plan. For questions about the business side, such as pricing your service calls, our sister brand Plumber.Consulting may be a better fit than marketing.
Results and what we can promise
We promise the work, the measurement and honesty. We can't promise rankings, lead counts or revenue, because no one controls Google, your competitors or the weather that drives emergency calls.
What we can show you is evidence of method: named, linked results from our HVAC work on the results page, and the arithmetic behind any plan we propose. If a channel isn't producing booked jobs at a cost that works for you, we'll recommend changing it or stopping it.
